I need help with Parabolas :(?

I cannot comprehend this stuff. My teacher isn't very good at explaining either. I'm in Algebra 2 and we are covering Graphing and Properties of Parabolas. I know how to use a graphing calculator. Buuuut I do not know how to Identify the vertex, axis of symmetry, and direction of opening. I'm guessing the opening is which ever way the V opens. So thats not a biggie. Could someone show me how to identify the vertex and axis of symmetry with this problem? 1. y=2(x+10)^2+1
